Job Function

Responsible for the design, development, & implementation of aftermarket components for the transit industry.

Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations

• Reverse engineer component parts and assemblies from initial design & prototyping stages through manufacturing and final approval.
• Perform competitive part analysis.
• Use 3-D CAD system to create new product designs and modify existing products.
• Prepare detailed component part & assembly drawings of new & existing products.
• Work with sourcing and vendors on a regular basis to identify cost effective solutions for new and existing parts.
• Work with quality to ensure all incoming parts conform to part specifications.
• Perform product testing as required.
• Implement “value added” solutions to customer problems and new part designs.
• Support sales team by creating technical sales literature and product information sheets.
• Communicate with all cross-functional teams, vendors and customers.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of all Mohawk products, policies, and procedures.
• Attend appropriate departmental and/or company meetings of updates and discussion of any relevant problems.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, etc. Extended CRT viewing and keyboard use.

Specific Knowledge

• BS Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Degree or Technical related degree.
• Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment and transit experience a plus.
• Knowledge of common manufacturing processes and assembly operations helpful.
• Understanding of SAE automotive standards.
• Highly proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and testing results.
• Proficient use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
